Medical brigade in Bucay: Care for vulnerable groups

Arrival in Bucay

We arrived in the canton of General Antonio Elizalde (Bucay). This beautiful corner of the country, next to Cumandá and its surrounding mountains, is known as the meeting point of five provinces: Guayas, Chimborazo, Los Ríos, Bolívar and Cañar.

In addition, hundreds of years ago, it was the meeting place of pre-Inca cultures such as the Milagro-Quevedo, Huancavilcas, Chimbus, Puruhaes and Cañaris.

Services provided

This Saturday, May 16, 2026, the team of Fundación LIRES traveled to the Virgen de Fátima neighborhood (MIDUVI) in Bucay. Thanks to the invitation of our friend Mauricio Minuche, we joined hearts to care for the bravest: our children, older adults and people with disabilities. What we achieved together:

• General medicine and free medicine/vitamin distribution.
• Physical therapy and dentistry.
• Optometry, glucose testing and vital signs.
• Manicure and pedicure.
• Mole removal.

Partners and donors

None of this would be possible without the heart of our partners. Our eternal gratitude to: DYVENPRO (Grupo DIFARE), Kronos Laboratorios and laboratories Rocnarf, for their invaluable contribution of medicines.

Thank you Andrea Alcívar for the gift of eyeglasses, thank you June Castagneto for the medicines and vitamins that were given out at this brigade.

Thank you for the Lions commitment! To the Club de Leones de Urdesa y Atarazana (Urdesa and Atarazana Lions Club), led by the District G-2 Governor, Pomerio Sarmiento, and fellow members Eduardo Avellán and Kleber Barros.
